The boat has excellent stability, speed and tracking for recreational rowing, great rowing exercise or club racing. It can be rowed either in a single sliding-seat setup or a double fixed-seat arrangement, and has a large self-draining cockpit, carbon fiber oars, Concept II oar locks, stainless steel outriggers, racing seats, and built in oar storage holes.

The full length battens are "bamboo sticks" so the sail is a little wrinkled as they we sewn in by hand. We now use a lead weighted swinging centerboard and water ballast. In sailing mode the boat tracks very well and it feels more like a keelboat than a dinghy. I could leave the rudder alone and go forward while the boat kept going. The rudder is very powerful. It is very long and narrow boat, and when the breeze picks up the speed goes up quite well.

The first Scandinavian Cruiser 20 to sail in Canada was launched on a bright sunny July summer day at Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Club. The boat was promptly christened with Champagne by the owners and their family members.

This picture from the recent launch of SC 20 (CAN 1) at Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Club in Canada captures the contrast between the worlds first Mini Yacht and a Super Yacht very well, and underscores the Scandinavian Cruisers core value of "Recapture the essence of sailing!".

This 20ft daysailer is inspired by the century-old Skerry Cruisers designs, but she's built using modern techniques and looks like a true joy to take out on the water.

To prevent any damage from the boat chafing against the fenders or the dock, I recently installed these mooring whips from TaylorMade.

We are now able to supply the Torqeedo Electric Outboard Engines with any of our boats. We are very excited about this partnership. The Torqeedo Engines are quite amazing. They are easy to use, require little maintenance and run on electricity. No noise and no messing around with any gas or oil near the water. We think that these engines fit the Scandinavian Cruisers philosophy very well.

The weather in Xiamen, China was sunny and warm as it seems to be each time we come here to sail. We started out by rowing the Scandinavian Dory 18 in the single rowing and sliding seat set-up, with my wife and son as passengers and acting as my “eyes” looking forward from the stern. The boat is exceptionally stable in rowing mode, and two people can easily change positions by walking past each other rather than one climbing through the legs of the other person.

I know I promised that I'd write again on Friday but truth is...I've been too busy sailing the entire weekend. We had beautiful weather here in New York and a good breeze on Friday and Sunday.

More exciting news! The Scandinavian Cruiser 30 has arrived. The SC 30 is very addictive to sail because she performs and feels better than most other boats.

We are very excited to inform you that we now have two boats in the race for the Newport for New Products 2010 Award. This year we've launched our first two boats, the Scandinavian Cruiser 20 and the Scandinavian Dory 18 and to have both nominated for this award is more than had hoped for. The SC20 and the SD18 combine classical design and sailing (and rowing) ability with the latest building technologies and hi-tech materials. If you are looking for a classic boat but are not willing to...

I'm watching the soccer game between Germany and Spain right now and boy, are both these teams putting up a fight. We're in the second half right now and it is still nil - nil. Whoever ends up winning today's match will face the Dutch team in the finals this Sunday. And since I'm of Dutch origin, I am obviously very excited to have our team play in the finals again after so many years. Whether we will be playing the Germans or the Spaniards, I'm sure it will be an exciting match.

The SC20 offers a type of performance that is hard to find in today's high performance dinghies and that there is no small daysailer quite like our Scandinavian Cruiser 20.
